Our Team

Since the foundation of The Neurodevelopmental & Educational Assessment Centre in 1995, our team of professionals has continuously been growing to offer an ever-expanding range of psychological, developmental, and educational assessments and programs, as well as treatment and counselling services. Our team comprises of Registered Health Care Professionals in the fields of Psychology, Health and Education. NEAC team members are highly qualified and have extensive experience working with children, families and students of all ages and backgrounds. Each client is paired with the best suited professional for the assessment or counselling that is required.

Dr. Avraham Grunberger, Psychologist C.Psych - Director

Avraham Grunberger is a registered psychologist whose work centers on assessing and treating youth who have complex challenges in the areas of learning, behaviour, and social-emotional functioning. Completing his doctoral degree in New York State, Dr. Grunberger has devoted much of his clinical career to exploring how academic, mood and anxiety challenges can be a barrier to success. His goal is to help families understand their challenges and develop tools to overcome them. Since returning to Ontario in 2009, Avraham functioned as a consultant at NEAC and worked in several hospitals and outpatient clinics throughout the GTA, including The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre for Children’s Mental Health, the Tourettes Syndrome Clinic of the Toronto Western Hospital, and the Child and Family Services unit at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga. In addition to his recent appointment as Clinical Director at NEAC, Avraham is currently an Assistant Professor (PT) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster Univeristy and is full-time staff on the outpatient service of McMaster Children’s Hospital.

Pinny Stern MA, Registered Psychotherapist - Director

Pinny Stern is an experienced Registered Psychotherapist. Over the years, Pinny has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings with people suffering from varied psychiatric and psychological disorders. Aside from being a high-school teacher, Pinny has over fifteen years of experience working with the adolescent population. Pinny specializes in Anxiety and Mood Disorders as well as Family and Marriage counselling.

Susan D’Souza, M.A., Dip. C.S.

Susan is one of the founding members of The Neurodevelopmental & Educational Assessment Centre. Susan has extensive experience working with children and adults in various settings. She has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. Susan has been involved in long-term international research projects in psychology.

Barbara Anderson, R.N., B.A. Psych.

Barbara is co-founder of NEAC. She is a Registered Nurse specializing in Developmental Paediatrics. She has significant experience working with children and families.

Dr. Vincent Murphy, C. Psych.


Dr. Murphy joined the practice in 1998. He specializes in developmental, cognitive, vocational and emotional assessments of children, adolescents and adults.

Dr. Bryan Phillips, C. Psych.


Dr. Phillips is the most recent addition to the Centre (January 2013). In addition to providing services at the Centre, he is part of the staff providing psychological services for students at York University, Toronto. Dr. Phillips is the psychological consultant to Ontario Family Group Homes.

Janet Marmur MSW, RSW

Janet Marmur joined our practice as a Registered Social Worker (RSW). She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from McGill University and a Master of Social Work from York University.

Janet has worked in the mental health field for over 30 years, her focus has been counselling children, youth, young adults and their families using integrative treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), solution focused, Dialectical Behaviour strategies and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). Janet has worked in elementary and high schools, a day treatment program, hospitals including outpatient psychiatry and a medical family practice unit.

Her accepting and warm approach helps individuals cope with life's stresses, such as anxiety and depression, by building on their strengths.

Jacqueline Anderson, H.B.A., B.Ed., C.T.E.S.L.

Jacqueline is an English as a Second Language program coordinator in the Centre.

Kate Keiser, B.A., B.Ed.

Kate is part of our educational programs team and specializes in elementary school tutoring.

Ariel Ho

Ariel graduated with a B.A in Psychology and an M.A in Developmental Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University. Ariel specializes in children's developmental theories, language acquisition, mathematics learning and learning via technology. After graduation, Ariel started working as a psychometrist administering psychoeducational, psycho-vocational, and neuro-psychological assessments. Ariel has been a part of the NEAC team for over a year and brings her enthusiasm and her experience to the NEAC.

Caroline Lin

Caroline holds a Master’s Degree in Neurosciences from McGill University and an honorary Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences from Queen’s University. Caroline has extensive experience working as a psychometrist and consultant on behalf of the Workplace Safety Insurance Board and Veterans Affairs. Caroline has received Level 10 Piano Certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has taught piano for over 13 years and currently teaches students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Caroline recently joined the NEAC team.
